The 137th year show is now over and being put to bed. The weather was perfect on both days, only a short shower on the Sunday. The public turned out in force to support us making it a record year. Many people played a part in helping the committee to put on a super show and without there continued support we would not have had such a successful weekend.
The Horses, Ponies, Cattle and Sheep were all well supported with entries for most of the classes. Trade stands, Bar, Hospitality, Craft stalls, Enterprise marquee and the Poultry show gave plenty of choice for everyone attending. The entertainment was provided with Motor stunts, Terrier racing, Bands, Majorettes, Fun Fair and a superb float parade plus for the first time this year a Tug of War and Wellie Wanging!.
We are now starting to prepare for the 2010 show on 3rd & 4th July. The float parade theme “Letters of the Alphabet” anyone who has not entered before should register there interest as soon as possible. (Contact Nigel Ogg 01724 734178)
Mark Stannage International Stuntman and escape artist is already booked as the main ring attraction. We will be repeating a number of the acts subject to availability through popular demand. Anyone with new ideas and help you can give will be much appreciated.
Many of the committee are wearing well (senior citizens) but we need younger members who can help over the weekend and possibly serve on the committee bringing new ideas so that next year can continue to get even better.
Thanks again from President Mark Herring, Chairman Brian McNeill and the committee for supporting a part of our National heritage – AGRICULTURAL SHOWS.
